Shanghai, China ( A Day in Life at Dongtai Lu Antique Market) Kind of like a bootleg Antiques Road Show, Dongtai Lu is packed with good old dusty Mao memorabilia, knickknacks, vintage curios and trinkets; even if you have to navigate through the riffraff to find the gems. Look out for small revolution-era porcelain statues, suitcases and old cameras (buy at your own risk). There's some treasures in the rough. Even if you don't buy, the sheer experience of walking down this alley is something to behold. http://unlike.net/shanghai/shop/dongtai-lu-antique-market http://poeticliterature.com/
Paige Claassen is a professional rock climber from the USA. She traveled with China Highlights to discover Shanghai. Dongtai road antique market reflects old style of the city. For more about Shanghai, please check it out:http://www.chinahighlights.com/shanghai/

A very small porcelain cup recently sold for a whopping 36 million dollars at an auction in Hong Kong. Talk about a valuable antique. A very small porcelain cup recently sold for a whopping 36 million dollars at an auction in Hong Kong. That selling price has made it the world's most expensive piece of Chinese porcelain. The origins of the cup stretch back to the Ming Dynasty, making it about 500 years old. The piece is being referred to as a 'chicken cup' because the exterior design shows a rooster hen and chicks. For a cup that's 5 centuries old, it's in pristine shape. According to the auction house, Sotheby's, there are only 17 cups like the one that recently sold, in existence. Some of those are owned by private collectors while the remaining cups are property of museums. So...

Hollywood Road is the centre of the art and antiques trade in Hong Kong, a winding thoroughfare lined with dozens of shops selling all manner of bits and pieces from the oriental past, from period furniture to Mao memorabilia. Start your walk at Possession Street where the British Royal Navy landed in 1841 to claim Hong Kong Island in the name of Queen Victoria. Along Hollywood Road you will pass dozens of antiques shops filled with furniture, ceramics and objets d’art. When it’s time for refreshments to review your finds, there are plenty of options in SoHo (from South of Hollywood Road, though it now extends either side). A detour left down Aberdeen Street will lead to a kind of monument, the Lin Heung, one of the best traditional tea and dim sum houses, and on Hollywood Road itself is ...

Travel video about destination Shanghai. Shanghai is a gigantic city that is a meeting point of both east and west. The shoreline is without a doubt the city's main focal point. The city is a combination of the past, present and future and contains the historic monuments and eye-catching buildings of a great metropolis. It was once referred to as 'The Whore of Asia', 'Capital of Crime', 'the Paris of the East' and 'The Centre of Maoism'. But today, the city is ruled by modern-thinking communists and the Yangzi Delta is not only China's largest port but also its new shining star of capitalism. The Oriental Pearl Tower is a mighty 468 metre high television tower that contains an entertainment centre, futuristic luxury hotel, fine restaurant and offers the most superb views across the city. ...

The stock market's down, Sotheby's stock (the best proxy for the art & antiques market) has been cut in half, consignors are pulling pieces they had intended to auction. It's all pretty bad news, right? But then the auctioneers are saying that despite all the problems in the global economy their business remains robust. Do you believe them? There are ways to check them out, and that's what we do in this week's program. For those of you who believe that what happens at the high end in New York doesn't affect you, remember 2008 and 2009? Are we going back there? We all know that all markets are cyclical, and we know we've been in a 7year run up & up, and that in 2015 prices for art & antiques were at all-time highs. Is the cycle reversing? Andy Grove, founder of Intel, wrote a book entitled,...

I did not know what to expect as I had never been to this all sports market before. The market is further away then the main markets and man oh man I am glad I went out of the way. Amazing Jerseys and the quality of the shoes in the last shop blew me away! UA just sitting on the shelves. Normally you have to search hard or ask for them, but all the shoes were UA. Yes some of the Yeezys are colours that have not released but they have the same material and quality as if they were ever released. I was so stunned I started making mistakes about the history of Jordans number 45, and naming the shoes. I called the OVO 12's the champaign's as I did not expect to see an UA pair of white OVO 12's just sitting on a shelf.
